Latest Updates

7/29/05

Trinity Triathletes leaders, Robin & Troy Soares welcomed their first child after a long day which was described as a "multiple ironman effort".  They praise God for this miracle and the wonderful health of baby and mommy.  As Robin passed the 13hr mark in labor, with hours yet to go, she thought back to prior ironmans and realized, this time she was not finishing without the "glowsticks".  See more at www.teamsoares.com. A woman giving birth to a child has pain because her time has come; but when her baby is born she forgets the anguish because of her joy that a child is born into the world.  John 16:21

7/22/05

Lake Placid Prayer Service is a great success thanks always to the Lord's pressence and those that volunteer their efforts.  Heather Gollnick, a 3 time Ironman Champion, spoke at the service despite having to prepare for the race just 12hrs later.  Derek Spain, of North Country Ministries, led a huge team of volunteers to help serve the athletes in Christ's name throughout the Ironman event.  From expo tables to aid stations and pancakes to Bibles, they definitely succeeded in focussing many people's attention on God.  See more at http://www.ncministries.net/ironman_triathlon_events.htm

Professionals that Race for God

You've seen them on the covers, and racing head-to-head in the races, and then perhaps they stop at the end to say a quick prayer.  Immediately you think, "I thought something was different about them!", and you are filled with joy to know you have another great role model you can look to in this often hectic and individualistic world of triathlon.  They're Christian athletes just like you, but they've taken it to the highest level and haven't been afraid to let the world know how they got there.  Here are some of their websites to check out for yourself.

The Triquerta Symbol

1997

The triquetra (from a Latin word meaning "three cornered"), is an ancient symbol for the Trinity. It comprises three interwoven arcs, distinct yet equal and inseparable, symbolizing the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit who are three distinct yet equal Persons and indivisibly One God. Just as triathlon is also three distinct yet equal events and indivisibly one race.

Your Favorite Verses

Here are your top 5 verses based on entries in the Trinity Triathletes database.  You can add your verse by editing your .  For example, when lifting Tri-California up to the Lord for blessing, Terry and Betsy Davis were drawn to Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But to him who is alone when he falls, for he has no one to help him up. Again, if two lie down together, they will keep warm; But how can one be warm alone? Though one may be overpowered by another two can withstand him. And a threefold cord is not quickly broken

Ways to Glorify God at the Races

11/15/04

  1. Before the Race:  when someone says, "I'm really nervous, I don't think I'm going to do well today", we can say, "I just remember that God is most important to me so that the race results aren't.  This way I won't get bummed out"

  2. During the Race:  we can wear a reference to The Word, like a patch that says "Powered by Jesus", or "Jesus Lives", or "Through Christ all things are possible Phil 4:13"

  3. At the Finish:  we can look up to the heaven's in thanksgiving as we cross the line, and then bow our head to pray a quick thanks to Him that helped us.

  4. After the Race:  when someone asks us, "Wow, how did you do so well? I didn't know you had that in you", we can say, "God gave me the strength, I owe it all to Him"

Try it at your next race.  And remember, His Word never returns void.  Tell us how it goes!

At the Races

1/6/04

At the Napa Marathon, I was running back & forth with a guy. Then afterwards, we were talking & then it hit us that we met in '99 in New Zealand at the first IronPrayer I organized. It was no more than an announcement inviting any athletes to a prayer meeting at some benches. There was about 6 of us. This guy, Ron Rogowski, was living in Japan at the time. Now he lives in Palo Alto, CA. I told him about Trinity Triathletes again and gave him my email. It's exciting to see the interest out there and know people are making friends at Iron Prayers.

Trinity Triathletes Home Stay Program

It is the desire of Trinity Triathletes to set up a home stay program where Christian Triathletes in the vicinity of races can assist Christians from outside the area with a home stay program, lodging, church services, and prayer meetings.

To offer or request a home stay, use the TT Database.
