Oh, yeah, my ankle healed up well, but remained stiff and slightly swollen. I tried to run anyway and this caused the achilles to inflame. So for a couple weeks it's been sore and I was a little disappointed in my progress because I was doing 1/2 Vineman yesterday. But I went to the race, prepared to walk a lot, and actually was able to run (shuffle) and maintained 10min/mi pace the whole way on the run! It was so cool! I was thanking God a lot. Robin did a 5:25 and I did a 5:10. Very cool. But we're both very sore :) Troy

----> Perfect Conditions at Half Vineman (8/4). On the chilly day before, the expo sold out of every pair of arm warmers. But race morning brought sunny skies. The course was slightly longer with a couple changes in the bike and run. -- Kevin Kennedy, still recovering from IM Austria (4 wks ago), pulled together a great 4th place & qualified for Hawaii! -- Robin Heidt, in her first 1/2 Ironman attempt, broke 5:30! -- Troy Soares, with his steel-reinforced-ankle, 12 wks after the crash, was back to racing again! -- Congrats to Lynn Rosser, who had to miss Ironman USA but used the training to win her age group at 1/2 Vineman! -- John Dougery, although already qualified, came 1 place away from being able to turn down a spot.. how cool would that have been! -- Todd Brown, starting dead last in the Clydesdale wave #20, passed over 250 people, while never getting passed himself... pretty neat experience I'm sure -- Congrats to Rachel Sears for one of the fastest bike splits of the day! --Good to see Kenny Leader from Boulder, CO, racing with us again! --Check out the winner's time! Chris Lieto 3:55:55 (23:48-1:49-2:11:27-1:32-1:17:20)

The 3 Ironman triathletes at Kaiser Electronics, Todd Brown, Troy Soares, and David Krevor, went to Santa Rosa to compete in this Half Ironman distance race. Although chilly the day before, race day was perfect. Todd's wave was the last to start behind the 2000 competitors. He counted each person he passed for the next 5-1/2 hours... 250! Troy Soares showed that his broken ankle of 12 weeks ago was now ready for racing again. See results below.

Robin, You placings look like you are the perfect 3-sport athlete :) Check it out...
