Yes, it's great to both have a great performance... but it's never without it's pain of course. I reflected back a lot to '94 coming down those last miles when all I could do was "go into a trance" staring at the road hoping it would be over. You were there to help me in then. This time I totally gutted it out, trying to break my PR of 2:57. I missed it by a minute but I couldn't go faster. Very sore now. Robin ran right on schedule (we didn't pace, we were running paces 1 minute different from each other). We both ran to our watches. Robin never got behind (like I did) and finished 2 minutes better than her PR!

Man, marathons are hard. So long, so much pain sometimes.

But Helen, you are SO worthy! You have been a beacon of inspiration for so many people, including ME! Yes, we encourage each other. There were times I couldn't do a marathon and you were doing 3 a yr! And I was amazed and encouraged to get back to it. So thanks and thanks for being Helen, the "Running Girl!"

I ran with Ken Wilner for a ways and spent most of the time looking at him from behind. He was going easier I think, pacing a friend of his. His friend died towards the end so I finished ahead. But Ken stayed with him all the way. Great guy.
