ATHLETE TESTIMONY

- Heather Gollnick

TESTIMONY
I truly believe that God has a plan for my family and my life.  It is through the tough times in our life that our strength within is built.  It is the strength/faith to hold on to Jesus because he is the only way.

Our now six year old twins were born prematurely (24 weeks).  We were told they had a slim chance of survival.  Our son Josh came home after five months in the hospital, our daughter Jordan eight months.  They were our miracle babies.  These months were very difficult as we struggled to have faith and believe this was in fact God's plan.  We struggled with the pain of watching our babies through an incubator - not being able to hold them because of their fragile state.

Their daily health was a roller-coaster of emotions.  Eventually however, our little miracles would come home.  We still have daily struggles as our daughter has Cerebral Palsy.  I often leaned on the following bible verse for support, "Trust in the Lord your God with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding, and he will direct your path."

Triathlon has always been a time for me to get out and clear my head.  It is something that I truly enjoy doing, and I thank God for blessing me with the talent to pursue this as my profession.  I race for God and know he is in control.  Thanking him for those great races, opportunities to share his greatness, and for the races that don't go well that sometimes yield a greater chance to share his love.
